For some Property Management System (PMS) connections, Impala reads the information required by the technology partner using the Impala Data Reader.
The Impala Data Reader is a minimum-footprint database reader that is typically installed on the PMS server. It functions much like any business intelligence and reporting software that connects to a database and queries it for the requested data. The Impala Data Reader gathers the data points the third-party provider requires, then sends them to the Impala Stay over an encrypted HTTPS / TLS connection, supporting only modern cryptographic ciphers and protocols.
To connect your hotel’s PMS to a third-party company that uses the Impala Data Reader, the Impala onboarding team will reach out to schedule a time for the implementation on your PMS server.
This process typically takes less than an hour and is only required once.
Impala has modelled our service and data handling practices to adhere to the European Union Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
This means, among other policies, that we encrypt the data in transit and at rest, the database access credentials used to access the data are stored locally on the hotel’s PMS server only, and are unknown to Impala. Impala’s servers are hosted in Dublin and Frankfurt exclusively.
